CH Wendel's Allis Chalmers book states the DT-317 had 75 horses and was used in some trucks, Buda also had a heavy truck engine that had 1150 cubes and 300 horses. These engines were put in trucks as retrofits in the late thirties and into the forties and by the early fifties several truck builders were regularly using these engines.
If the engines in the thirties and forties were retrofits as the book claims I wonder how they were adapted to the transmissions. I do know the military used New Process trannies in some of the trucks including the White/Diamond T/Autocar built half-tracks in the WW2 era.Jim
