Bush hog question.

I'm thinking of buying a 6 foot King Kutter brand heavy duty bush hog that is slip clutch protected. I'm currently using a 6 foot Howse brand bush hog that is shear pin protected. I've been cutting some hedge saplings using the shear pin protected unit. Doesn't a lot of the shock of cutting the saplings transfer up the drive shaft to the tractor? Would a slip clutch absorb some of this punishment and keep it from the tractor? The King Kutter unit looks good. Does anyone have any experience with King Kutter bush hogs? Are they any good? Thanks.
