Sam, I just had the same problem with my TO-20 Ferguson tractor running the battery down so I disconnected things one at a time and it seemed to be in the generator. Took it apart and it was okay so cleaned, polished commutator, reassembled and oiled it. Spark was still arcing at battery when I put last cable on. Took a hammer handle and tapped the voltage regulator and whoopy-doo, no spark at cable. Don't know if it stays stuck with engine running but if it does, it won't take long to eat up a $125 generator. I shut mine off a while ago and tapped the regulator again. I'll know the next time I start it if it helped. Guess it is just tired and needs to be replaced. Maybe this will put you on the right track with yours. ----L8R----Fred
