About 15 years ago, when I was an outside salesman for a private label auto parts company, I read an article in a trade magazine that said that everything else being approximately equal, an outside salesman driving a domestic badged vehicle will always be more successful than one driving an import badge.
A fellow salesman and I proved that. I drove a Dodge van and he drove a Toyota. He got thrown out of about as many places as he did business with. When I quit the job, he bought my Dodge at the end of my last day.
