I have a few very minor design qualms with it- but overall a very reliable machine.

Perhaps you could find a deal on a used one.

One thing for sure- do not get a lawn tractor with a belt-drive to the drive wheels- I used to have one that always broke belts. Also, make sure it has electronic ignition. Now that I don't have to worry about points anymore, my small engines tend to actually start in the spring after sitting idle all winter.
