A couple of months ago, our daughter was driving back to DC one Sunday evening after visiting friends in Maryland when a pickup truck with a couple of guys in it pulled up beside her and kept pointing at her right front tire. Amy has too many street smarts to fall for something like that, so she just kept on driving.
The guys fell back, and pretty soon came up beside her again, gesturing more urgently at her front tire. Again she ignored them. Pretty soon the guys dropped back, made an illegal U-turn, and went back the other way.
With predators like that on the prowl, I agree, no young female should be working on her own car anywhere but her own driveway or garage even if she's capable of it.
