Now Gordo, I am every bit as strong a supporter of zero tillage (or min. till.) as there is. But, please note that "dust" and "soil erosion by wind" are not necessarily the same thing. Obviously if a tilled field (or any other field) is blowing, you have dust. But the dust from behind a combine doesn't have much to do with soil erosion. I have been zero tilling on and off for 15 years now. I have noticed that when combining a zero tilled field vs. conventional, the zero till will have by far the biggest cloud of dust. This is simply because in zero till at harvest time you are rooting around in about three years of dryed out standing stubble.
