Rear Wheels

I need some good advice on repainting the rear rims of my Ford 5000. I just removed a leaking rear tire which was filled with calcium chloride. When I removed the tire, I discovered that the tube must have been leaking for some time since there is a fair amount of rust on the inner edges (along the bead) of the rim.
My question is, once I have removed the rust, how should I go about protecting the metal from future assault by calcium chloride. What primer would you suggest and what paint to protect the metal. I don't really care what color it is since it will be hidden by the tire.
