My dad told all 4 of us kids to take typing in high school. In case any of us were drafted in to the service we would most likely become an office clerk. He said when he was in the Korean war draft they would ask who could type and there were some who could and then became office personnel. I guess my dad either hated that he could not type or was jealous of those who got into the office. But any way typing has helped me. It's something you never forget. The more you use the keyboard the better you become. They teach computers in school now in the low grades. I think they should learn the keyboard first and the proper way to use it. It's like any other tool it can speed up the job once you've been properly trained on it. One good thing the keyboard never changes, look at it that way. There are books out there that are cheap to buy and I would recommend any one to get one who can't type. What's there to be a shamed of?? You have nothing to loose, only the open world to gain.
