Senior in high school in 1961; had a free period and signed up for typing, but I don't remember why. Had about 30 Royals and 2 Remingtons; I got one of the 2; by the end of the year, I could do 80-plus words a minute. For almost 50 years, I'v been glad I 'took' typing. Reminds me.......friend who's the long-time parts manager at the local JD dealership is missing the end of a fore-finger (at the first joint) ....lost it to an ax when chopping kindling as a child. He signed up for typing and been in class about 2 weeks before 'Miss' Barnard noticed the missing joint; she threw him out of class. He loves telling the story.
