There was an old water powered gristmill up on a small river up the road. It was credited as being the first amusement park ride in the US. When the miller would go to town he left his 13 yr old son to run the mill and as soon as Pap was out of sight the kid let the sluice gate open full and get the big wheel spinning fast as it would go. Then he hit the brakes on the mill stones and the whole mill would spin around on the wheel and come back to rest where it was supposed to be. Pap figured it out when he saw the first layer of the foundation stones sitting on the ground and the cornmeal slung against the walls. As Daffy Duck would say, "OH Brotherrrr"
