i just put a combine 404 into a 4230 it was a fairly simple swap i kept the turbo and made a custom air intake so it would look original. i also had the late model combine motor. on the 4020 though youll have to look to see if the blocks are the same i believe the early 404(4020) and the late 404(some time in the mid 70's they switched) use a different block with a a different bolt pattern.should be able to look at where it bolts to clutch housing and tell maybe measure to make sure. if your blocks do match you will need to use the tractor oil pan and the sump(sump in combine doesnt go down quite as far. there are bolts in the oil pan that go into the clutch housing combine doesnt have these on its pan.
