wheelhorse tractors

I do the building and grounds maintenance for a small school district in California. Our lawn tractor is a 38-inch Toro 'Wheel Horse'. Did the Toro Company buy Wheel Horse and if so, how long ago? I would appreciate any help from those of you who are into Wheel Horse history.
