We hire it done every few years- (sorry- don't think they will be able to do your place over in Germany) They hook up a hose to one of our faucets, and dump bags of lime (pretty sure it's not the same stuff we put on the floor) into some sort of a mixer.
They then have a pump that puts it under pressure and they spray it on. Looks like just a peice of pipe that has the end hammered flat, with a ball valve for the on/off.
Some guys do a fast job, some guys do a good job. The ones we use seem to do a very good job and don't take any more time than the next guys. I think they can do 2 barns in a day if they really want to, but there aren't many barns left anymore so I'm sure they don't rely on just white washing to make a living. Maybe I'm wrong.
