My cousin was bit by a Rattler in the early 80s - he survived but his arm "where he was bit" swelled up bigger than his leg. My dad had a mason jar full of snake "rattles" from snakes he had killed over the years. He would usually just go up to 'em and cut their head off with a shovel.
