45 years ago I bought range oil.It was used in Perfection oil stoves for cooking in summer time.Many old wood fired kitchen stoves were converted to use range oil,it cost 15 cents per gallon.Range oil was not used in lamps.There was a lamp oil called Clear Pearl.It cost more and most gas stations had a 50 gal drum of it on hand.My father in law had an oil truck during the depression .Kerosene was 8 cents per gallon and most people bought 5 or 10 gal at a time.
