Depending on the ballistic coefficient of the projectile. Most "small" bullets fall back to earth at just below the speed of sound. When the bullets tries to exceed the speed of sound the shock waves tend to make the bullet tubbles and increase drag. Which slows the bullet. Still a 180G .308 caliber at 1100ftps would do damage.
