My perception of the future includes increased inflation rates and some social disruptions.
If we get high inflation, cash is trash. Better to buy cheap durable goods now.
Social changes may lead to survival lifestyles and "back to the land" movements.
In either case, collectable or useful items should outperform the dollar.
I track some of the stuff I own on eBay. I have been pleasantly surprised with the recent prices on an IH 660 w/Elwood at $16,500 and an antique military Harley at $30,000. Just today, someone reported on the YT IH board that an unrestored Farmall SMTA with M engine sold at auction for $3950. That tractor is not even collectable.
You should also load up on diesel while it is cheap. I have 5000 gallons. It should last me 10 years. Maybe longer as I get older.
