Oh--I also used a hood, instead of goggles, to help keep out of my face, and a fan, to help dissipate the smoke.
And the galvanzining will spatter quite a bit, if you don't get it removed from the area to be welded.
I am not recommending doing it--so proceed at your own risk. Just saying how I went about it after consulting a welding professional who is also a part-time welding instructor--it can be done.
