larry these are used to get ear corn out of wood cribs that dont have built in troughs for the drags. when shelling, the drags (look like a conveyor elevator that lays on the ground) it transports ear corn to the sheller. the drags lay against the crib, the crib boards are removed and the auger run in the corn to pull it out into the drag. saves a lot of shoveling. the auger will run in till hits its metal stop bar, so the drag will be infront of the tires on the auger.if you see one in use, it makes a lot more sense.
