About the only thing of value right now is a zinc antiwear additive (ZDDP) This additive was in all older non emissions oils and protected flat tappet cams / lifters from excessive wear. Many modern oil have little or no ZDDP in them, as modern roller cam engines do not need it and the additive will slowly damage the new engines emission sustem. Using a good CD-CF diesel oil that still has fairly high levels of ZDDP in older gas engines with flat tappet cams works, or add a ZDDP additive like GM EOS at each oil change. Ford and Chrysler have the same product under their own label.
