I was a mechanic for a jd/kubota dealer for 3 years . I left last month ,I would stay away from the 970 it's a good tractor but it's gear shift the 55 series is hydrostatic it robs around 6-8 hp from the engine it also is alittle tipsy but it is a dependable machine.Now the kubota gst is a gear transmission but it is shifted hydraucly. It can be shifted from forword to revese with no clutch and shifted through all 8 gears with no cluch.with the cluch you can lift the buket faster forloading and such.
the clutch lasts forever.
the loader gets easier to take off and put on the more you do it.
