Pretty sure they are all bouncing off the same satilite. I would do it if I did not have another method. Just keep your expectations in line.
Satilite service is like a truck. Takes a wile to load but can carry alot when it is loaded.
Has high latentcy. With DSL if you ping a server on the net it may take 20 to 200 NS for your signal to get there and back. Thats nano sec. then you can down load a song or what ever at about 1.5 mega bit or more depending of service level. Notice I said mega bit not mega bite. A bit is one 8th of a bite. they use bit to make you think you are getting more than you are.
A satilite connection will take about a whole 1/2 to full sec to ping the same server. But when down loading After it gets started it goes fast.
Another thing is weather. Need a clear view of the southern sky. Clouds, rain snow ect all effect your service. Most likely when its raining and you want to be on the net. All your going to get is a blinking light.
A bigger company may have better tech support. But who really knows these days. All companies have us condition not to expect to much any more.
I bet if you call into tech support your call gets transfered to India to a company that sells tech support to many providers. They just turn the page to the flow chart for what ever company you are calling.
Most of the smaller ones are most likely just selling the same service as DTV but just packaging their name. They pay hughs a whole sale rate and charge you a retail rate. They may or may not own any infrastructure.
