This is normal I think the way you describe it. Many of those old American Bosch ( yours is probably German) had an overflow tube. The fuel comes from normal leakage from the pump's plungers and barrels. How about a pump model to start with and when was the last time the oil was changed. I think you have some version of a Fiat and I can check but I need more infromation. When does it smoke blue?
