The family has what was called a 'Centrex' years ago. It's provided by the Fone Company�s switch for small businesses which don't want to go the expense of a full PBX. I was on a party line in 1969-1973 because the company was preparing to install a new switch and didn't want to buy new trunk units to replace the old two party units. I think there was never another party on the other side.
