Great engine to pull trailers. I had just installed a new one and Edelbrock carb in an old Ford F350 with a rebuilt heavy duty 3 sp automatic/torque converter and 410 gears, when the gas price took off. So have put only 2000 miles since then mostly towing and it is parked now (service truck use only). It gets around 8 miles/gallon regardless how it is being used. Friend has a Ford diesel which we use for any on-road use. For better gas mileage with a Ford gas engine I would opt for the V10. Got to be sure and use diesel oil if it has a "slipper" follower type camshaft.
