Hercules, White, Continental, mfd to goverment specs for M35, M35A1, M35A2, 2 1/2 ton military trucks, were made to goverment specs and are interchangle, in gas, multifuel, and diesel versions. Those trucks, first engineered by REO were also mfd by Studebaker, White, Mack, Kaiser, and now American General. The early REOs used their 7 main bearing 331 cubic inch gold comet gas engine, others licensed to build them for Uncle Sam purchased engines from REO, until the multifuels came out and Continental got the engine contract. Later, Hercules and White subcontracted. They all interchange in military trucks--don't know what bellhousing the tractors used. It would be interesting to research. MILITARY VEHICLES Magazine is FULL of ads selling these engines as "Takeouts",Govt rebuilds, and New Unused, prices ranging from $600 for takeouts to $2000 range for new or rebuilt.
