Insurance will pay and they may, but also may not, cancel her. As someone else said, if shse has been a good long-time customer they may keep her on.

She should get a lawyer. There are thousands of layers who specialize in DUI and they can work wonders with the system. The system can be beat if the right lawyer is consulted right away. Even if she can't beat it she will undoubtedly get to keep her license for transport to/from work. She may, depending on the state, get to do 48 hours in jail and have very little consequence after that.

The people who want to run everyone else's lives would have you believe the sky is falling if you get a DUI, but the real truth, as evidenced by the thousands of cases adjudged every month, is that the first time can get expensive but not nearly as drastic as the do-gooders would like you to think.

In my 21 years in a patrol car I made it a personal policy to transport 90% of the DUI violators home instead of to jail. Of course those, like your friend, who crashed the car couldn't be saved, but I saved several dozen!
