I never understood why the goobermint was handing out the vouchers for the converters anyway. Seems like it's the teevee advertisers that benefit from teevee, so they should be paying for the converters. If the people that they target their ads at can't receive the dtv signal, they won't be buying the product, so it makes sense for the advertisers to pay for the conversion.
Kinda flies in the face of the whole idea of bigger government, though. I can see why they didn't do it that way.
