my grandma used to tell a story of my grandad who died in 1937 having a team of horses hitched to a wagon that spooked and ranoff down a road with my grandad still on board. two women in the community were walking down the road and could see him comming,standing up and fighting the reins hard as he could to regain control. as he passed them he tipped his hat and said mornin ladies. still fighting the team

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Argyle and Mt. Pleasant Labor Day Weekend Shows - by Cindy Ladage. The last fling before summer fades into fall and we get busy in the fields are the annual Labor Day tractor shows. Beginning on September 5th and running through the 7th, the Argyle Antique Gas and Engine Show is held at the Argyle State Park. Located in West Central Illinois, the pine forest was the setting for the opening of the 22nd show.
