Depends on the size and design of the baler, I have run a 6x6 Gehl 1500 with a ford 4000,but the Gehl does not make a very dense bale and it was marginal in heavy hay. I would think a 4x5 or the like would not be a big problem. Some of the newer balers eat a lot of horsepower from what I have been told and seen.
