David
Here's my $0.02 and thats about all its worth. I run a small, cost ineffective but enjoyable farm of 234 rocky acres. I use a 2600 and 3600 Ford, 32 and 42 hp respectivly. From haying, combine work, bush hog duties to work in the woods, I never run out of hp only weight. A tractor from 40-60 hp should do most anything you have described, as long as round bales are not in your future. 4wd is nice but ads a lot to purchase price and upkeep. As far as the Zetors I personaly recommend avoiding them. The low purchase price is sure attractive but the relibality is just not there. A friend tries to farm with his, thankfully he is a machinist. I am a true blue oval fan, but I believe you can buy a good tractor from any of the big 4 mfgs, New Holland, Deere, Case and Massey Ferguson. Hope this gives you something else to think about.Let us all know how you make out. Best of luck, and happy farming. Roy.
P.S. This may be and older tractor site, but there is a lot of knowledge providing sound advice on most any subject comming from these boards.

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Godfrey, Illinois Country Days - by Cindy Ladage. Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this ... [Read Article]
