In plainer talk it was a shift on the go handle on the left side of farmall's starting with
M-TA's on though to newer modles to the 706 series then they changed it somewhat to hold back
in low range which the early version's didn't.
They worked great until they go bad then you better have some bucks.
I owned a late 706 with the hydralic tourque that held back and put many hour's
on it and never had to replace it. Just lucky I guess good maintainance also helped
