Would I give this article more credence if it were in Time or the NYT? Well, as a matter of fact, yes. And there are plenty of conservative publications with solid credibility that you could qoute. National Review and the Wall Street Journal come to mind. If you have to go to pravda.com to back up your arguments, you're pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel. As for the Russian "party line", that's not hard to figure out. Russia in the twenty-first century is an oligarchy. Businessmen in Russia want the same thing businessmen everywhere else want: They want to keep doing whatever it is they're doing that makes them money. And the Russian oligarchs have made a pile of money producing, selling and exploiting fossil fuels. And, as recent events show, Moscow finds it very convenient to have the rest of Europe dependent on Russian natural gas.
