Sounds like he doesn't know what he is doing with a gun to pull one like that. You never work on one with out being 100% sure it is not loaded but you still treat it as if it is loaded. As far as what one will go in and out of not sure. Had a friend shot a deer this year with a 280 and the bullet didn't make it out of the neck of the deer. Didn't kill the deer either. I killed it with a shoot from my 44 mag just a moment before he shoot. He shoot just to make sure the deer went down. My shoot was a heart lung shoot his the neck.
