Used Bolens garden tractor

Hello, I'm considering buying a used Bolens garden tractor (18hp, but not sure which model) about 10 year old. The price is good, however somebody told me that Bolens were very expensive to repair. Is it true? Is it likely to break down? Would I be better off with a new, smaller lawn garden (White or other). Thanks for the advice Pierre
