I have been introduced to the Magna trac tractor with a loader and a backhoe. Interesting machine. Looks well built and the loader and hoe seemed to have good power and reach. The only thing that I did not like was the loader control position. It is hard to do loader work and be fluid with it. The loader controls are the old 2 stick arrangement so one hand is on them while the other is working the directional controls, also the loader controls were almost straight down for my right hand. Needs to be more like a skid steer! Loader controls on my feet would have been great! The backhoe had twin wobble sticks! Seems fine! Backhoe had a lot of power. The 25 hp gas kohler engine had plenty of power to run it. I prefer a gas engine in smaller equipment. The other drawbacks it seemed to me were its low ground clearance and slow speed. 2 mph forward or reverse and then you have a overdrive lever to get upto 3 mph!
Other feelings were that this machine with the hoe on it was that it was light in the front. It even had a few hundred lbs attached to the front. I took it up a hill and it was lifting the front of the tracks the whole way. I just lowered the backhoe to work as a skidplate. So it drug the hoe bucket up the hill.
