I agree with Earl on the dye penetrant,although you will have dye in your weld seam.They make interlocking pins called Loc n Stitch that you you drill and tap into the crack and interlock into the previous pin.No danger of heat cracks with these. They have an inverted thread that pulls the crack together.Welding cast iron takes preheat and you can end up with a mess if things go wrong.
