Try the great Coca-Cola experiment. Take two soft drink cups, fill one with water and the other with coke. If you are a believer than set both cups on a piece of plywood. If you are a skeptic than set them on your most expensive piece of furniture. Wait three days and check them. You will find the coke leaked through the bottom of your cup while the water cup in intact. As for your engine, I heard kerosene works better.
