I have an 825 also. I always considered the belarus theft proof-no one else around here can figure out how to start it! I have never had starter problems, but I have had "starting" problems. 1. battery conections have given me the usual problems. (if you are lucky they will last 5 years) 2. that black box between the batterys WILL give you problems, that is the relay that gives you 24 volts to the starter. If I know my batterys are good I will check this first. 3. That main switch beside the seat has to make good contact, lately that has to be rotated a bit during cranking to make good contact. 4. the shift levers have to be in the correct posistion, and the throttle moved a bit forward. 5. I always step the clutch pedal down, out of habit, when starting. I don't know if it has a safety switch on it or not. 6. My russian is a good tractor- my biggest headaches is the wiring conections and switches. How ever, it has never quit generating. I have had to replace the plastic fuel lines too. good luck
