The unions served their purpose at the turn of the 20th century improving safety and wages. Now they have spiraled into a monster that is hurting business... GM. I work in manufactuing. I work with a former Toyota engineer. I also work with a former Production Manager from GM. Toyota builds a better product and the variable cost is roughly 1/2 of a union plant while the morale is higher. The manager from GM said you cannot run out the sorry ones and the hard working people get run off by the sorry ones for making them look bad.
