What state is that in? In Michigan,there is no acerage requirement. A greenhouse can be "Agricultural" if they are growing a recognized bedding crop for instance.
As for "a farm is a farm when you are growing something" or have "livestock",not necessarily here either. Our assessor has a few other townships. She has somebody in another township who has goats. He has them for his autistic son. Says he has a farm because he has sold a few of them. Well,our instructions for Board of Review goes on or pages as to stocking rates,etc,that qualifies property for an AG classification. Gets right down to being a judgement call on a lot of it.
We used to have quite a time with people with horses claiming they had a farm. Our instructions were that horses for pleasure was residential,horses for profit was Ag. The equine industry got busy in Lansing and got it changed so that all horses are considered AG now.
