A farm is a farm when you grow something, period. And it doesn"t matter if you"re growing livestock or plants and if you have a tractor or not or if you have 15. The real question is if it"s a sustainable farm or not. And again, it depends on who and how they run it. I know lots of guys who loose money every year running hay equipment to feed 10 to 25 head of cattle while I know other"s who own no equipment, grow gardens big enough for 5 families, and put a hog or two and a beef or two in the freezer every year and if they were to out it on paper, I"m sure would be making a much better return on their investment.
