I have had dealings with unions also, most bad. I worked for a new car dealership that was union. The union helped with a few small problems, but for the most part did not help. When contract negotiations came up he wanted us to slow down on the job, and when we were about ready to strike, we found out that the state that I work in was an "at will" state and we could be fired for any reason except for descrimination. I now have a new job working for a construction equipment dealer and go to several construction sites. One site I go to is a large nationwide company that has some union mechanics and they are the laziest bunch I have seen. They will not do anything to get their hands dirty. All the "hard jobs" are farmed out. I am not totally against unions, just that I don't have any use for them.
