I was doing remodeling for awhile, and always wanted to place my yard sign for marketing, plus the van was clearly marked. A permit was necessary to not draw the ire of the city. They would tell you that anything over $250.00, labor and materials, required a permit. In other words, almost everything. I had a purely cosmetic kitchen remodel to do, (replace a window, rework existing cabinets for dishwasher, new oven, and microwave). So, I go to the courthouse and ask if I need one. I explain what I am doing-yes you do! So, I get one. I call for inspection at completion, since nothing needed inspecting in between time, and he chewed me out for wasting his time! What a mess! Greg
