My idea is for use with a hammer mill that needs 2500-3000 shaft rpm to work properly. In converting it from flat belt drive and to V belts, it requires a pulley on the order of 22" in diameter. If the PTO was already at 1000 or so, the pulley diameter could be halved. Multi-groove 10" to 12" pulleys are quite common and easy to obtain....but 4 to 6 groove 22"+ pulleys are very hard to find and cost out the kazoo.
