John Deere Model 170 - 5 speed Lawn Tractor

I have a lot of play on the top pulley bushing on top of the transmission. The dealer wants $700.00 for a new transmission but I would like to know more about possibly repairing it rather than replacing it. I am looking for a parts break down or service manual. Still runs fine and all the gears work but it is getting noisier. Any tips would be welcome.
