In Louisiana after the 2005 hurricanes (Katrina and Rita) future new construction guidelines are much more strengient. They hired independent inspectors and charge like $3500 for a permit alone. The inspector in our area covers multiple Parishes (Counties) and makes a KILLING! The part I disagree with is that I am in North LA, about 90 miles from Arkansas. The Gulf is +200 miles south of me. But the permit for hurricane resistant structures are for the entire state, not just the "Wind Zone III", which covers the I-10 corridor, south. Just another way for the State Government to capitolize on the people.
