replacing lift arm ends

The swivel 3 point mounts on the lift arms on my old Ford 650 are in pretty bad shape. One is missing its inner sleeve, so attachments wobble around in it, the other is very rusty. Tractor Supply sells replacement ends that are weld-on. So- you just cut off the old ones and weld on the new? Any particular tricks to ensure that the weld will hold? I know about grinding to achieve a v groove for the weld. I have a 250a MIG, so I should have no problem welding this- I was just surprised to see that this is the solution and want to do it right the first time ;-)
