A hose/pipe installed over the exhaust pipe of a donor vehicle routing the heat/exhaust underneath the oil pan of the engine to be started is a far safer method than the fire method...............another method is to add heat directly into the intake manifold while cranking(diesel only)via a small propane torch, this method tends to work better on N/A engines due to less heat loss in the intake system...........
